Finnish Engineering

I am relatively sure Finnish engineering is better than German engineering, reason being that the colder the country, some variant explanation of not freezing to death + culture + biology comes into play.

The airport train station (Frankfurt vs Helsinki) was notably better in Helsinki. Things were dirty, not kept up, and there were cracks in the tile. Furthermore, the Finnish trains are more comfortable, spacious, and less stuffy.

Also, windows are double paned. Drywall, which is smooth, I think aesthetically is better than German walls which can often be rough popcorn concrete on the wall. But that may be a function of cheapness, I think not all people do that style of wall.

You hear much about TK Elevator but little about KONE, Miele washers but little of metos (though to be fair, it is professional and at 8,000 EUR which is a bit much). Volvo, though nominally Swedish, gets less attention than your Benz/Audi in the US.

The elevator door closes faster (instant upon press). This industrial-grade washing machine has a degree of solidity about it that I found notable, yet it had a simple but not too complex screen for different tasks.

Some other brands (I don’t think it really matters that much for bathroom furnishings, some stuff from China would be just as good at a third or less of the price) I saw:

Toilets were by a brand named IDO. I did not like them so much.
