The world is unfortunately now in a giant game of global werewolf. As international and geopolitical tensions run high following turmolt in the mid-east/Middle East/West Asia, nobody knows who is on what side while moderates and their calls for understanding will be drowned out.

Accusations are sure to follow in any direction: any correlate between ethnicity, geography, and nationality will be taken as support for the political-military centers associated. Those who take a nuanced approach will be accused of treason and disloyalty.

On the information side we face two great issues:

  1. The one-sided narratives meant to serve state interests which blatantly obscure the truth at the cost of most citizens’ wellbeing
  2. The propagation of reductive explanations leading to greater paranoia, hysteria, and conflict coupled with the fact that some of these obscure theories may in fact be true

Trapped in an endless spiral of misinformation and escalation, anyone in the world with long-term values—restraint, foresight, kindness, understanding—as opposed to short-term values—self-aggrandizement, waste, and emotionalism—can already see the deadly path we are on, yet in time even the latter will perhaps largely regret taking the first steps toward ruin.

It is certain there are some in this world who do not have long-term morality. They are not in the majority, but they are the werewolves who will take pleasure and dance amid destruction. Some, however, simply lack the information environment or personal ability to understand others and anticipate the future. The problem is that we need to rectify those with short-term morality who seek bloodlust and power, yet not end up in endless spirals of escalation.

There are a few actions which can be taken to further the global peace:

  • The development of multi-feed stream sources which take in information sources across the globe, which will help for those wanting and willing to take a nuanced view
  • A sound analysis of the various military powers and their range of projection; if there is little mathematical and simulated basis for global war, then we are perhaps allowed a brief reprieve. Yet this may only serve as the foundation for another era of rearmament lacking the ability to build understanding across language and culture. A military analysis, therefore, must be followed by calculation of the distribution of resources among human beings of given population states, whether we can sort of have various floating world-regions that can ignore each other. Yet with an increase in transportation technology, a sort of world-unification seems in the distant future inevitable.
  • An analysis of the different interests of various human beings: long-term and short-term morality alike, to understand what their intentions, actions, and ways of being will be

I will take my part to try and work on the above in the meantime.
